Rotor’s Bakery: A Journey of Resilience, Growth, and Community Support in Neepawa

NACTV has launched a new program, Business Spotlight, showcasing businesses that are not only thriving but actively shaping and supporting Neepawa’s local economy. The first featured business is Rotor’s Bakery, which celebrated the grand opening of its new location on January 13.

Rotor’s Bakery: A Story of Resilience and Growth

Founded in 2019, just months before the pandemic, Rotor’s Bakery faced a challenging start. With limited capital, the owners relied on a bank loan and personal savings to get the business off the ground. When the pandemic hit, they feared they wouldn’t survive. To their surprise, however, sales actually increased during that time. Their customer base extends beyond Neepawa and surrounding areas, with occasional visitors coming from other provinces as well.

As the business grew, the owners decided to move to a space they could own rather than rent. The transition wasn’t easy—they saved a portion of their business income and secured a government grant to put toward a down payment. However, renovating the new space came with significant costs, requiring additional bank loans and support from friends and acquaintances.

Despite the financial challenges, the bakery’s success was fueled by strong community support. “Even if you have a bakery or a building like this, without customers, it won’t operate or grow,” said R. Rotors. “So the growth of a business really depends on the support of its customers. We’ll continue doing what we do—keeping our bread the same and making it even more delicious.”

The success of Rotor’s Bakery reflects Neepawa’s expanding economy. Beyond serving loyal customers, the bakery is helping attract more visitors to the area and creating job opportunities for newcomers.
