CAO John Hall provided an update on his recent participation in the AMCTO Municipal Managers Conference. This event offered municipal managers a valuable opportunity to network and exchange insights on challenges facing local governments. As part of Local Government Week, the township is promoting greater community engagement through its social media channels. An open house is planned, inviting residents to visit the township offices and engage informally with staff.

The council reviewed the progress of the Hydro subdivision project, noting that it remains in the early planning stages. Some minor revisions are required before advancing to the next phase.

Community Development Officer Luke Bedard presented a report focusing on a proposal to acquire a new community health vehicle. The council also agreed to support the continued operation of Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto by forwarding a letter of support. Additionally, the township will endorse recommended changes to the Municipal Elections Act.

One new agenda item approved was a donation to the Harvest Cupboard Food Bank for December.

The ongoing closure of the local mill remains a significant concern, though there is still some optimism about finding a new owner. While rumours persist, there are no confirmed developments regarding potential buyers.

Another pressing issue discussed was the decline in emergency medical services (EMS) across the North Shore. Alongside a shortage of ambulances, the area faces challenges in attracting new professionals to the field.

During the question period, a resident expressed concern about those without social media access being left uninformed about township matters. In response, the council explained that information about the health vehicle was based on availability and cost considerations.
