Over the past year, numerous investments and new laws have been introduced in the House of Commons to support Canadians. Investments have been made to help less fortunate individuals gain easier access to dental care and to help farmers cope with increasing issues surrounding climate uncertainties.

Investing in Canadians

Francis Drouin explains that the most important thing the federal government made this year is to invest in Canadian citizens: "We focused on helping families get by with extra money in their accounts. We targeted families that were the most in need, dental care for instance. We knew that a lot of seniors didn’t have access to dental care so we created a new program to help."

He also talked about the major investment of 5.2 million dollars made by the Minister of Agriculture earlier this year. As barley is being harvested here, Mr Drouin acknowledged the importance of those seeds to be more climate resistant. As the climate is drastically changing, those dollars will be put into research to make these seeds more resistant. 

Moreover, as more Canadian media companies have recently been affected by Meta's cuts in response to Bill C-18, Francis Drouin reminds us of the importance of this law. He explains that content created and produced by Canadians and broadcasted through online platforms must receive the appropriate amount of revenue made by these web giants, such as Meta.
