At a recent city council meeting, the development of 91 townhouse-style condominiums on Webster Boulevard was the focal point of discussion. During this public meeting, the Innisfil City Council listened to a detailed presentation from the developer and heard passionate objections from concerned citizens.

The developer’s presentation outlined a plan that includes 31 conventional townhouse units, 26 back-to-back townhouse units, and 34 stacked townhouse units, leading to an overall density of approximately 59 units per hectare.

Citizens attended the meeting to voice their concerns about the proposed project. Common issues raised included the lack of green space, insufficient accessible parking, and inadequate snow removal provisions. One citizen bluntly questioned, “Have the architects of this plan even been to Innisfil in the winter?”

Deputy Mayor Fowler expressed his agreement with the concerned citizens, stating, “This needs to be looked at to be more accessible to the community, to fit in so that there's less chance of children being injured. The situation with the entrances needs to be addressed; it’s been brought up numerous times. It seems like a very ideal situation, what you’re presenting, but what we need is something more realistic.”

The City Council did not come to a decision to approve or deny the by-law amendment application for the proposed townhouse development at this meeting. Instead, the session was intended to hear the presentation and staff report, along with concerns from the community.
