Izabela sits down with Renée Gratton, the Director General of TVC22, to discuss the mission of the community television station. “The mission of TVC 22 is truly a community mission, and we are here to serve Prescott Russell. I'd say Eastern Ontario and our main mission is communication and we're using that platform to start to educate, use it for continuous learning,” says Ms. Gratton. TVC22’s focus, when it comes to programming, is oriented towards culture, health and wellness, local environmental issues, politics, and other various subjects. 

The station, being non-profit, allows thematic diversity in the subjects that can be covered, however there is the need for patronage and the work of good samaritans to keep TVC22 going.  “As a community nonprofit organization, we cannot do it without volunteers. We also need sponsors and members. Members can start as low as $12 a year and business sponsors as low as $200 a year and a year.” The station offers training and orientation for students in co-op programs, and to accommodate their mandated community service requirement. 

TVC22 prides itself on audience involvement, keeping its proverbial ear to the ground, to televise pressing, contemporary and local issues. monetary donations aren’t the only way anyone can support the station. Services that the station provides outside of news is the opportunity to support local businesses through advertising. TVC22 has been bringing quality programming to Prescott-Russell since the 1990s, and is looking to revitalize the image, brand and content in the coming year with the aid of Videotron and CACTUS Media.
