Surveillance Cameras to be Set Up at Local Skatepark Soon
In Your Ward (S2): Ward 3, Councillor Carl Grimard
As Presenter Thomas Stockting, of TVC22, makes his way back through the wards of the City of Clarence-Rockland in season two of this series, this week he speaks to the Councilor for Ward 3, Mr. Carl Grimard.
Stood in an residential area of the city Thomas and Mr. Grimard discuss the ongoing Bell project "Bell Fibe" which aims to provide fibre optic broadband to rural cities across the province.
Internet speed have long been an issue in the City and have been further exposed by the number of people who have had to modify their working habits to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The issue residents are facing with this project, which has been seen across the province, is the way in which the work is being done, with many properties suffering expensive damages during the fibre optic cable installation process.
Mr. Grimard explains how residents concerned residents living in this newly built neighborhood asked the council to see if Bel could find alternative, less damaging ways to complete the work but, as the councilor explains, the City must be careful to not deter the project.
In the second half of this conversation Thomas and the Councilor head to the local skatepark to discuss the upcoming installation of security cameras and the way in which they will benefit the community as well as easing the workload on the local bylaw officers.
The skatepark, which is approaching it's ten year anniversary is not only a great space for young people within the city to meet up but also holds a sentimental value to the municipality and Mr. Grimard explains how the introduction of the cameras will help ensure the park doesn't need to close it's gates for good.
