Anishinaabe Aadizokaanan : Our Teachings - Bobby Osawabine
FirstTelTV5 begins it's 'Anishinaabe Aadizokaanan' - Our Teaching series, a partnership project with Naandwechige-Gamig Wikwemikong Health Centre.
Bobby Osawabine is an elder from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, he is a Sun Dance Chief, and he shares his insights and teachings on how we should be dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, from a traditional perspective. Bobby shares the story of how he was gifted the Sun Dance ceremony, and how Anishinaabe people have always used our medicines and ceremonies to overcome illness and hardship. He tells how our ancestors have been through similar, if not much worse, experiences and how we will get through this one, and that it is our traditions and ways of life that will help us.
Directed by Kerry Assiniwe, Director of Communications and Media Services Naandwechige-Gamig Wikwemikong Health Centre. Drum song thanks to Adam and Jesse Kaboni.
Anishinaabe Aadizokaanan features insights, thoughts, reminders and healing guidance from some of our Knowledge Keepers in Wiikwemkoong; as we all go through this Covid-19 pandemic as community.
