Every summer, the heart of West Vancouver comes alive with global celebration at the annual Multicultural Festival, held at scenic Ambleside Park. Organized by local civic groups and supported by cultural organizations, the festival is a vibrant showcase of how diversity thrives in harmony—as residents and visitors come together to share food, stories, music, and traditions from around the world.To showcase unity, harmony, and inclusion regardless of race or religion.

This year’s fest featured over 30 cultural pavilions, including vibrant showcases from Palestine, Japan, Iran, Armenia, South Africa, China, India, and more. From Japanese calligraphy and South African art to Iranian poetry, Dance and Palestinian embroidery, Ambleside Park transformed into a living celebration of heritage, resilience, and identity.

Nassreen Filsoof from the Canadian Iranian Foundation (CIF) said, “This festival is not just about sharing culture—it’s about learning from each other and building bridges of understanding. That’s how we create peaceful, inclusive communities.”

Bahbah Abrari, also representing Iran, reflected on the joy of connecting generations. Rose and Romina, expressed how the festival makes them feel proud and visible. Chanjit from India said, “Our cultures may look different, but our values—family, hospitality, respect—are the same.”

Kathleen from Ukraine appreciated the sense of support and solidarity, especially during times of war. Layan, a young Palestinian woman, shared, “Being here means our culture is alive, honored, and part of this community.”

But beyond the food, music, and storytelling, the festival carries deep civic significance. In a time when division and fear often dominate headlines, events like these offer a powerful counterpoint. They remind us that a strong, healthy democracy is built not just on shared laws—but on shared humanity.

We live in peace, harmony, and diversity here in Canada, and West Vancouver is a shining example of how important that is. No matter your religion, race, or background, we are one community—and human rights are at the heart of our shared values. Civic leaders in attendance emphasized that multiculturalism isn’t just a policy—it’s a lived experience. “This festival strengthens the social fabric of West Vancouver,” said Sherry “When we make space for everyone to belong, we build safer, more compassionate communities.”

As the sun set over Ambleside Park, the sounds of connection lingered—children laughing, elders exchanging wisdom, strangers becoming neighbours. In West Vancouver, the Multicultural Festival is more than a celebration. It is a civic act of unity, and a reminder that our diversity is not something to tolerate—it’s something to treasure.
