Restoring Confidence and Care: How the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation is Transforming Local Healthcare

Geneviève Kyle Lefebvre had the pleasure of sitting down with Kristina Chung, Manager of Marketing and Communications at the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, to discuss how the foundation is not only enhancing patient care but also reshaping what community-driven healthcare looks like in the Tri-Cities.

Today on Face to Face, we turn our attention to the impact of local philanthropy on health services and patient experiences. The Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation has long been a key player in improving healthcare in Port Moody and surrounding communities. With every fundraiser, partnership, and project, the foundation is ensuring that patients and healthcare professionals have access to the tools, spaces, and support systems they need. From life-saving equipment to state-of-the-art renovations, the foundation’s work is visible across the hospital.

Kristina Chung speaks with pride about the community’s role in these achievements. “We couldn’t do what we do without our donors, volunteers, and local partners,” she explains. “It’s a collaboration rooted in care.” Among the foundation’s most innovative recent initiatives is the Areola Tattoo Clinic, a restorative service created for breast cancer survivors who have undergone mastectomies. The clinic offers medical-grade tattooing in a safe, welcoming environment, helping patients reclaim a sense of self and body confidence after their cancer journey. The response has been deeply moving. For many survivors, this service is more than cosmetic. It is emotional healing.

Support for projects like this comes through a variety of fundraising efforts, from annual galas to community campaigns. Every dollar raised contributes to better care, greater dignity, and more personal, patient-centered experiences. The foundation also carefully assesses community needs and works closely with hospital leadership to fund what matters most.

These priorities include advanced imaging technology, wellness programs for frontline staff, and programs that directly benefit patient recovery and comfort. Kristina invites community members to learn more, spread the word, and consider giving, volunteering, or simply sharing stories. “Healthcare touches everyone,” she says. “When we invest in it locally, the entire community benefits.”

The Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation reminds us that healthcare is not just about medicine. It is about human connection, dignity, and the collective power of a community that chooses to care. Tri Cities Community TV is a group of volunteers in the region who are looking to support community video media and independant community news stories and sources.
