The Fundamentals of Developing a Town

This week, we spotlight a local artist sharing his vision with neighbouring communities, a nutrition program that bridges generations, and an insightful interview with the Neepawa and Area Planning District.

Clemente Villamayor—known in art circles as Tengnamoe—continues to expand his reach across Westman. Following his successful 2023 exhibition in Neepawa, he has showcased his work in various galleries throughout the region. Originally from the Philippines, Villamayor moved to Westman a few years ago and has been actively contributing to the local arts scene. His work captures the essence of his new home, and he has also participated in public art projects in Neepawa, including murals and painted benches. His latest exhibition opened this past weekend in Dauphin.

Meanwhile, Amanda Roels is turning her passion for nutrition into a hands-on learning experience. Through her "Simply Nutrition" workshops, she blends book-based learning with interactive food demonstrations and tastings. Her goal is to make nutritious eating accessible and enjoyable for all ages, even for those with the pickiest palates.

Finally, we sit down with Jeff Braun, Senior Development Officer with the Neepawa and Area Planning District, for an in-depth discussion on community development. From backyard decks to major infrastructure projects like a new hospital, Braun explains how the planning district plays a key role in shaping the region. While our show includes only an excerpt of the conversation, we cover the basics of the district’s responsibilities, the regulations it enforces, and the principles of effective town planning.
