Men Helping Men Shed The Blues Join Today The Coquitlam Men's Shed is a collaborative environment where men work shoulder-to-shoulder to create a variety of projects for themselves and the community. The Men's Shed can be a replacement for the shed, or workshop, you had before you downsized, or lost to storage, or perhaps the shed you always wanted. It’s an alternate way to reach out, avoid ‘isolation’, find new opportunities and interests, to socialize and work along with other men on activities which give a sense of purpose. Many men, especially after retirement, find themselves alone, often living in isolation and needing to connect with their community and find new purpose but aren’t sure how. Others just want to learn a new skill or revisit old ones. A Men’s Shed is a community-based, non-profit, non-commercial organization that is accessible to all men and whose primary activity is the provision of a safe and friendly environment where men are able to work on meaningful projects at their own pace in their own time in the company of other men. A major objective is to advance the well-being and health of their male members. Each week members meet up to chat about collaborative community projects, new tool & skill training, and to connect about our lives. Beyond the regular weekly meet-ups, members make time to work at the shop together or on their own. There are a lot of benefits and opportunities that come with a Men’s Shed, previous experience with life and a respectful attitude are all the qualifications required.
