The Municipality of Eastern Charlotte recently held a council meeting at Magaguadavic Place in St. George, New Brunswick, focusing on significant development projects and community initiatives. 

One of the key agenda items was the approval of development agreements with Project Village for two projects in Blacks Harbour. Council unanimously supported the Lewis Connors Drive project, which includes the construction of two 15-unit apartment buildings. Councillor Adam Hatt who represents the Ward of Blacks Harbour expressed optimism about the project, noting, "It's great to see these properties being developed, bringing positive change to Blacks Harbour."

Another significant project was the Willow Court renovation at the 260 building, aiming to improve 12 housing units. Councillor Darrell Tidd seconded the motion to approve this development agreement and commended residents Matt and Heather for their efforts. "Acknowledging the efforts of local residents Matt and Heather in driving these projects forward," Tidd remarked, highlighting the community's role in local development.

Council also discussed recent and upcoming community events, underscoring their importance in fostering public engagement. Mayor John Craig pointed to the success of the Bicycle Rodeo and the Mother's Day Market, saying, "The success of recent events such as the Bicycle Rodeo and the Mother's Day Market highlights the importance of community gatherings in promoting local businesses." Anticipation was high for the upcoming Summer Concert Series and Summerfest, with council members enthusiastic about the planned activities.

Environmental sustainability and community cleanups were also on the agenda. Councillor Alexa Detorakis praised local volunteers for their participation in Earth Day cleanups, emphasizing, "The importance of collective action in preserving the natural beauty of Eastern Charlotte is essential." 

In addition to these discussions, the council reviewed updates on various ongoing projects, including housing developments and infrastructure improvements. These updates are part of the council's broader strategy to enhance living conditions and support community growth.
