For many years, diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran have been severed, and Canada has no embassy in Iran. After the Ukrainian plane was shot down in Tehran, killing dozens of Iranian-Canadians, these relations became even more strained. Many Iranian political and social activists approve of Canada's stance towards the ruling regime in Iran.

Now, more than a week has passed since the helicopter crash of Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic, which resulted in his death. Canada has maintained a stance of indifference in response to this news and has not sent any condolences. Most Iranians living in Canada were not saddened by the death of a person who had been part of a group issuing death sentences to thousands over the years. In some places, people even celebrated and rejoiced.

In tonight's program, we will examine the helicopter crash incident involving the president and ask our guests what the reasons for these celebrations are. We will also discuss the additional activities that political and social activists in Vancouver are undertaking to oppose an anti-human rights regime.

Nearly all the guests in this conversation are victims of the crimes of the Islamic regime in Iran. Protest programs are held almost every Saturday at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Saturday, May 25, is dedicated to Raisi's death and protesting executions and inhumane actions in Iran.

Political activists in Vancouver conclude that the death of a tyrant does not mean the end of tyranny. They believe they must become more united and vocal to make the voices of the people in Iran heard worldwide.
