Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) has granted $50,000 in scholarships to 15 outstanding students through the 2024-25 Regent Park Scholarship Program. Made possible through a partnership with Tridel, this program provides each recipient with up to $3,000 for tuition and an additional $500 bursary to cover books and other educational costs, helping students pursue their post-secondary studies. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden and empower young talent within the Regent Park community to achieve their academic goals.

This year’s scholarship recipients were chosen for their academic achievements and community involvement, including familiar faces like Humira Rahman and Samir Abdella, who participated in past summer programs at Regent Park Focus Media Arts Centre. Their accomplishments reflect the spirit of dedication within the Regent Park community.

The scholarship initiative aligns with TCHC’s commitment to fostering opportunities as part of the Regent Park revitalization. A celebratory breakfast was held on July 24 to honour the recipients, with support from Kristyn Wong-Tam, MPP for Toronto Centre, and partners from Tridel and TCHC’s Development team.

As these students head off to colleges and universities across Ontario, their success is a testament to the strength and resilience of the Regent Park community.
