Raising the Roof Provides Solutions to Reduce Homelessness in Winnipeg

The homeless challenge is still evident in its cities despite Canada's presence at the forefront of the world's countries. Living in Winnipeg, we know very well what the weather is like in its winter and the suffering of the homeless on its streets, our program needed to find someone to contribute to solving this challenge.

Raising the Roof is one of Canada's most essential programs that rebuild homes, prepare them to receive the homeless, and protect them from any dangers they may face on the streets. This "Civic Platform" episode features Shoshana Coodin, Marketing Manager at Raising the Roof.

Coodin spoke to our show about the history of Raising the Roof and its programs in rebuilding and rehabilitating housing for the homeless. Coodin expressed the challenges that Winnipeg is experiencing because of the homeless and said that it is a very complex issue not solved easily because everyone has a different story. We cannot deal with it in general, and everyone must have a way to deal with it to provide suitable housing for each person.

Coodin also pointed out that the street is not a safe place to live, as there is a severe danger that threatens the lives of the homeless, not only because of the weather but also because of addiction, crimes and insecurity.

Homelessness may make these people a danger to society, and the concerned authorities must make quick decisions against them so that they do not become a source of loss for the city over time.
