"Life on Gabriola: Reflections on Health and Well-being," Ep. 1: "So Tell Me About Yourself"
Life on Gabriola TV is delighted to partner with People for a Healthy Community to bring wider notice to a series of fun, thoughtful, touching videos focused on the topic of aging well, whatever your age. First produced by PHC this past summer, "Life on Gabriola: Reflections on Health and Well-being" features a range of Gabriolans, from kids to elders, sharing their wisdom and advice on the subject of growing up and growing older.
In a community where the median age is over 60, the topic, and reality, of aging is ever-present. But the series makes the point that aging isn't just a concern for seniors. Whatever our age, we have wisdom and experience to offer about travelling life's path, and plenty to learn from one another.
In Episode 1, young Shae Conley interviews a range of Gabriolans outside Nesters, the local grocery store, before providing some very sage thoughts of his own..
Some highlights from the interviews:
🌍 Aspirations for a better world focus on kindness, happiness for all, and addressing issues like hunger and homelessness.
🏫 Advice includes the importance of education, continuous learning, following passions, and maintaining a positive attitude.
🤪 Anecdotes about the silliest things people have done, such as recreating Tarzan moments or having a trampoline day without pants.
🌺 One participant's current silly endeavor: instituting Hawaiian shirt day on Fridays.
