Housing and English -- The Key Challenges of Winnipeg's Moroccan Community
The Moroccan community in Winnipeg is one of the largest Arab communities in the city, and they have many cultural events that they hold annually to bring members of the community together as one family.
Atlas Moroccan Association of Manitoba is the official umbrella for the Moroccan community.
Atlas organized many events that aimed at stabilizing the community in Winnipeg, which takes the Moroccan community hands to cross all the challenges they face such as language, housing, culture shock, etc.
This episode of "Civic Platform" features Jouwairia Lahboub- Daayf, President of the Atlas Moroccan Association of Manitoba.
Daayf talked about the association and its tasks in Winnipeg and how it contributes today in bringing the community together to be a good example for future generations.
Daayf spoke about the challenges facing her community in Winnipeg and explained the ways the association offers to help solve them smoothly. So that, the things don’t become complicated for Moroccans in Winnipeg.
Daayf also described the annual events organized by the Atlas Moroccan Association of Manitoba and their importance in reminding the community of their history and culture and introducing the second generations to the history of their ancestors in terms of clothing, food, and even the Moroccan dialect.
In this episode too, Daayf provided many tips that the Moroccan immigrant to Winnipeg needs in order to settle there and not leave it and go to other provinces because this phenomenon has
become clear in the recent period in many communities where they are looking for other provinces to find better opportunities for work and housing.
