2025 Grads Unleashed!

Lake Superior High School marked a milestone on graduation day, celebrating the achievements of its Class of 2025 in a ceremony that blended pride, reflection, and hope for the future. The event, recorded and live-streamed so family and friends near and far could take part, honoured four years of remarkable student perseverance and growth.

Speakers highlighted the extraordinary challenges this group faced, beginning their high school journey during a global pandemic that reshaped classrooms and disrupted routines. Principal Sarah Curtis and Director of Education Will Goodman both commended the graduates for adapting with resilience, finding new ways to learn, and emerging as leaders in their school and community. They praised the class not only for their academic success but also for their ability to support one another through uncertain times, becoming artists, athletes, volunteers, and role models along the way.

The evening also recognized individual excellence through an array of bursaries and awards contributed by local organizations, businesses, and community partners. These accolades recognized a wide range of accomplishments, including strong academics, character, leadership, and service. Recognition extended across diverse fields — including the skilled trades, health sciences, game design, and the arts — reflecting the many paths students will take after graduation.

Several students stood out for multiple honours. Carson Commisso, Jacob Curtis, and Zoe Krause each received awards acknowledging their dedication and achievement. Victoria Lynn Thompson was especially celebrated, earning numerous awards and the prestigious Governor General’s Academic Medal for achieving the highest overall academic average — a testament to her commitment and excellence throughout her high school career.

The ceremony concluded with memorable addresses from co-valedictorians Brady Nesbitt and Zoe Krause. Their speeches balanced humour and sincerity, recalling the shared experiences that bonded the class while looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities of adulthood. Both encouraged their peers to embrace change with courage, to choose kindness in a complicated world, and to believe in their own potential as they step into new chapters of education, careers, and life.

The Class of 2025 leaves behind a legacy of determination and heart at Lake Superior High School. Their graduation was not only a celebration of what they have achieved but also a reminder of the community spirit that helped them reach this moment — a spirit that will continue to guide them in the years ahead.
