How One Family Overcame Immense Challenges to Start Fresh in Canada

Samir Prioto Tayar, the face behind the YouTube channel 6inCanada, has a compelling story of the transition from Brazil to Canada. With a background in chemistry, he found it challenging to secure an excellent job in his field back in Brazil. This led him to work in law enforcement, a profession fraught with danger and violence in many Brazilian cities. The decision to move to Canada was driven by a desire to protect his family and seek a better quality of life.

Samir's professional journey in Brazil equipped him with valuable skills that he now applies as a laboratory technician in Canada. "It's a hard question to answer," says Samir, "but my experience in the safety field in Brazil prepared me well for my current job. The discipline, attention to detail, and resilience I developed are crucial in the lab environment."

Immigrating to Canada posed significant challenges, especially for Samir's large family of six. "As a big family, we had to prove our financial stability to move here. That was our biggest challenge. I had to come first to prepare the ground—find a job, secure a home, and set everything up before my family could join me. Being apart from them was really tough."

For large families, Samir recommends considering immigration to Canada to prepare financially. "It's really hard to raise money for immigration if you're living in Brazil. It's easier for single people or smaller families, but for a big family like ours, it was a real challenge."

Having moved to Winnipeg, Samir and his family are still acclimatizing. "I came here a year ago, but my family joined me three months later. We're still discovering new places. For them, everything is new. What I love about Winnipeg is that it's a great city for families with plenty of activities."

Comparing Winnipeg to his hometown in Brazil, he notes, "We lived in a small town with just 30,000 people. Moving to a city with 700,000 people, like Winnipeg, is a big change. There are so many things to do here, and that's wonderful."

Samir appreciates the opportunities in Canada, especially the ability to prove one's work ethic. "In Brazil, even if you work hard and show dedication, it doesn't always lead to opportunities. Here, we have the chance to demonstrate our willingness to work and get recognized for it."

Through his YouTube channel, Samir shares his experiences, challenges, and the joys of his new life in Canada, providing valuable insights for others considering a similar path. His story is one of resilience, adaptation, and the pursuit of a better life for his family, contributing to the rich cultural tapestry of Canada.
