West Vancouver Community Cultural Fest: Celebrating Diversity and Unity in BC

Canada is a multicultural nation, welcoming immigrants from diverse countries and cultures daily. This rich tapestry of diversity and cultural heritage is deeply valued by Canadians. People from various backgrounds learn from each other's traditions, contributing to and enriching society in return.

Events like this contribute significantly to the promotion of civic values. The Canadian Iranian Foundation was also present, representing the Iranian community. They shared their culture and heritage by giving out books on Iranian history and heritage for free, translated into English for non-Farsi speakers, highlighting the value and contributions of Iran and Iranians.

In a conversation with Nassreen Filsoof, founder and president of the Canadian Iranian Foundation, Nassreen emphasized the importance of recognizing and appreciating that everyone comes from diverse backgrounds. One of the representatives conveyed that Ukrainians are kind people with a rich heritage and culture. She mentioned an art piece they created, "The Tree of Unity," symbolizing the strength and peace of the Ukrainian people in the world. They expressed their hope that their fellow Ukrainians could experience the same peace they now enjoy in Canada.

They emphasized the importance of participating in events like this, noting that such beautiful diversity makes Canada a uniquely wonderful place to live.

Sherry also spoke with representatives from South Africa and South Korea, who shared similar perspectives. They echoed the same sentiments about the significance of this cultural event, highlighting its importance in fostering understanding and unity. A Korean representative noted that celebrations like these are invaluable for the younger generation born in Canada. They emphasized that such events provide an excellent opportunity for these youth to reconnect with their own culture and heritage, as well as to engage with and learn from others' cultures.

Sherry Spoke to a young woman who won her first crown in the Fashion Run and graced the event in a striking paper outfit. She highlighted the significance of living in Canada and joined in appreciating the country's commitment to diversity.
