On the March 24th update: We start with a public notice from the Cache Creek Village, The deadline for the 10% utility seniors discount has been extended to May 31st. Any residents over the age of 65 can also pay this bill and receive this discount over the phone.

A public notice from Cache Creek: The Cache Creek Village office will be closed starting March 23rd, staff will still be on site to answer any questions over the phone. This is due to COVID-19. Remember to visit our YouTube channel to watch the most recent council meeting for both Cache Creek and Ashcroft.

An update from WorkBC: With growing global concerns, in consideration of COVD-19, all Work BC offices have decided to close down, including the one is Ashcroft, effective immediately.

From School District 74, the province of BC has decided to suspend all in classroom classes until further notice. You will be contacted by a teacher in the coming days to discuss how you can continue school work at home. You will be provided with all of the resources you need.

As of Tuesday morning, BC has recorded 472 cases of COVID-19 with 13 deaths. On Monday BC unveiled a 5-billion-dollar aid package to keep individuals and businesses afloat.

Caribou Jade shoppe in Cache Creek has closed due to COVID-19, but will still do over the phone orders and deliveries. Caribou Clear Water can still be purchased at Grubsteak in Cache Creek or Safety Mart in Ashcroft.

Some people who have been coming home from abroad that should be self-isolating are not. This has sparked some heated debates on social media in Ashcroft. Some suggestions to help with physical distancing include, do not give hand shakes or hugs, greet with a wave, shop with public transportation in off peak hours, if possible, use food delivery methods, and work from home.

What is self-isolation? Is when you have been instructed to separate yourself from others. If you are ill you should be separated from others in your household. If you have traveled but do not feel ill you should still isolate for 14 days. If you have come into contact with someone who has been sick or have COVID-19 you must self-isolate for 14 days.

From the Ashcroft-Cache Creek Journal -- The 5 billion dollar stimulus package given out by the provincial government 2.8 will go to people and 2.2 will go to business.

Yesterday in our area 11 crew members responded to a wildfire in Lytton and is covering over 128 hectares and is considered as out of control.

The HUB Playground is closed until further notice, the Ashcroft school’s jungle gym is closed, the Cache Creek Elementary school and park jungle gyms are also closed at this time until further notice. These jungle gyms are an easy way to spread germs among kids.

We have updates from Joyce Buckland in regards to the Equality Project. You can go to the Equality Project on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, they are looking for donations of Cheese, Tuna, Peanut Butter, and ham.
